Porta hepatis

The structures passing through the porta hepatis from anterior to posterior are:

1. Hepatic duct- Carry bile away from the liver to the duodenum.

2. Hepatic artery- Supplies oxygen-rich blood to the liver.

3. Portal vein- It carry nutrient-rich blood from the digestive organs to the liver.

NOTE : The hepatic veins are not part of the porta hepatis, they carry blood from the liver to the inferior vena cava.
