Type A: Leakage from a minor bile duct, such as an accessory duct or a small branch of the cystic duct. (e.g., cystic duct stump leak)
Type B: Occlusion of an aberrant right hepatic duct without bile leakage.
Type C: Transection of an aberrant right hepatic duct with bile leakage.
Type D: Lateral injury to the common bile duct (CBD) without complete transection.
Type E: Complete transection or stricture of the bile duct, further subclassified based on the level of injury-
E1: Injury >2 cm from the hepatic confluence.
E2: Injury <2 cm from the hepatic confluence.
E3: Injury at the hepatic confluence with preserved right and left ducts.
E4: Injury at the hepatic confluence with separation of right and left ducts.
E5: Injury involving both the hepatic confluence and an aberrant right hepatic duct.
