Musculocutaneous nerve

The musculocutaneous nerve is a branch of the lateral cord of the brachial plexus (C5–C7) and primarily supplies the anterior compartment of the arm.

Muscles of anterior compartment of arm (Mnemonic: BBC)

• Biceps brachii

• Brachialis

• Coracobrachialis

Key Points:

• It pierces the coracobrachialis muscle.

• It provides motor innervation to all three muscles of the anterior arm.

• It continues as the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, supplying sensory innervation to the lateral forearm.
