Pulmonary embolism

Echo (Echocardiographic)- 
McConnell's sign: characterized by akinesis (lack of movement) of the right ventricular (RV) mid-free wall with normal or hyperdynamic contraction of the RV apex.

 

Chest x-ray signs (CXR) in pulmonary embolism- 

• Westermark sign: Focal oligemia (decreased blood flow) distal to the embolus.

• Hampton’s hump: A wedge-shaped, pleural-based opacity with the base against the pleura, indicative of pulmonary infarction.

• Palla’s / Knuckle sign: Sausage lump; Enlarged right descending pulmonary arteryn

• Elevated Hemidiaphragm: Due to atelectasis or pleural effusion.

• Chang sign: Abrupt tapering or cutoff of a pulmonary artery.

• Fleishner’s sign - Enlarged pulmonary artery
