Grade

Description

Grade I

Internal hemorrhoids that are not prolapsed.

They are usually detected during a physical
examination or colonoscopy.

Grade II

Internal hemorrhoids that prolapse during
bowel movements

but spontaneously reduce (go back inside)
after the movement.

Grade III

Internal hemorrhoids that prolapse during
bowel movements

and require manual reduction (pushing
them back inside) to return.

Grade IV

Internal hemorrhoids that are permanently
prolapsed & cannot be manually reduced.
