Five stages of grief

The 5 stages of grief, also known as the Kubler-Ross model, describe the range of emotions people go through when dealing with loss or grief

 

These stages are not necessarily experienced in order, and not everyone goes through all five.

 

The five stages of grief, according to psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, are:

 

Stages

Description 

1. Denial

Refusing to accept the reality of the loss.

2. Anger

Feeling intense frustration and anger, 

often at oneself or others.

3. Bargaining 

Trying to make deals or promises to reverse 

the loss or mitigate its impact.

4. Depression

Experiencing deep sadness, despair, 

or hopelessness.

5. Acceptance 

Coming to terms with the reality of the 

loss and finding a way to move forward.
